Governance

Meath Women’s Refuge and Support Services operates to high standards of corporate governance across our organisation.

We do this by operating with an independent Board of Directors, using a transparent recruitment process. The Manager reports to but is not a member of Meath Women’s’ Refuge and Support Services and in 2018 there were 11 Board meetings. Board members are not remunerated for their time and work nor are they reimbursed for any expenses for travelling etc. Formal disclosure of board member’s interests are updated and the board operates to its governance handbook as part of the annual audit process and our Board members are listed in our 2018 Audited Accounts.

The Finance and Risk Sub-Committee oversees the finances and annual audit and it has a set  Terms of Reference for this Committee.

Every year the organisation undertakes an annual audit and from 2019 onwards our audited accounts will be prepared in accordance with SORP (Statement of Recommended Practice, Accounting and Reporting).

Meath Women’s Refuge and Support Services is a registered charity (charity no.8685 ) and we work hard to be completely transparent to our funders and supporters regarding funds raised and money spent. We are a registered company and you can find our details on the Companies Registration Office website using our company number 127494           .

We work to ensure that our work is transparent and accountable so that those who work with us, fund us and access supports from us can have confidence in what we do.

Our Annual Report 2018 illustrates this and can be found on our Reports and Plans page.

The directors of the board for 2021-2022  are Sinead Gogan, Frank Long, Mosa Gama, Michele Sweeney, Claire Sheerin, Richelle Manning, Sinead Christian, Charlene Trenier & Meabh Smith.
